I started working for the Food & Beverage Team in September of 2017, working only weekends at the time. It wasn’t very long before I knew that I wanted this to be my full time job. I quickly advanced to a Lead position, despite having no restaurant management experience. My leaders trained me, trusted me and believed in me. It was refreshing to see that hard work was rewarded!
I came to work here because I would always have a lot of fun when I visited with my family as a guest. I stay because my coworkers have become like family to me. I really enjoy interacting with our guests and strive to give legendary customer service and try to learn the names of my repeat guests. Sometimes it will be a year in between visits and they are always shocked when I greet them by name! It’s very fun to put a smile on their face. I encourage you to take a chance and find out how much fun it is to work here!
After getting married and retiring from the Army in 1996, my wife and I bought an RV, escaped the Texas heat, and moved to Branson. When we got here, I picked up a newspaper to check the help wanted section and saw that Silver Dollar City was hiring. Since I love music, people, and having fun, I figured that this was the perfect fit. My wife and I were hired the next day!
I fell in love with my job and have never looked back! Every day, I leave home to go play and have an enjoyable time. Having said that, I’ll tell you that it’s still hard work, but how many people get to have so much joy from what they do for a living? The people that I work with feel the same way that I do. We aren’t just coworkers, we’re family! I’ve been in their weddings, watched their children grow up, and have been able to be there for so many people and they’re there for me. This is no ordinary place to work, and I am so thankful for the entire experience. I have worked in many different roles around the park in Attractions, Maintenance, Parking, and as a Character at the Homestead. If you aspire to grow and move up the ladder, you would be joining the right team!

My sister was on the opening team of Time Traveler in March of 2018 while I was going to school in Texas. I decided to go work with her over the summer and ended up loving it! Because I liked working here so much, instead of going back to school in Texas in the fall as planned, I stayed and have worked on quite a few of the roller coasters, even with my sister having moved back to Texas at this point. In November of 2018, I started to work my way up into leadership at Thunderation. Then, for a complete change of pace, I started the 2020 season as the Lead over one of the family areas, Grand Exposition.
Even though I’m 6 hours away from my family, the amazing people that I am surrounded by and the atmosphere of the park are the reasons that I decided to stay. I love being able to come in and say good morning to the employees. We truly are just a big community here and I know that no job will ever be the same after working at Silver Dollar City. You can’t find that family feeling anywhere else!

With the many wonderful memories of Silver Dollar City since the early 1960s plus my parents and children who have worked here during various times, I decided to apply and was hired as an Elf in the Christmas Parade in 2018 after retiring from a local school district. After experiencing the joy and seeing the smiles radiating off of the faces of guests, I decided to join the team for more than just Christmas as an Usher with the Entertainment Team.
It’s a great job working with wonderful people that have become like family. The opportunities for meeting people from not only around the country, but from all over the world have been like a dream come true for me! I cherish my job and look forward to many more days of having a great past ahead of me!
